About Us

Hi, I’m Vanessa — a mom, educator, and documentary filmmaker passionate about telling the untold stories of Black history and culture.

I grew up in a home that welcomed people from all over the world. My father mentored international students at The Ohio State University, and our family dinners were full of culture, conversation, and connection. But I also grew up knowing what racism feels like. When I was a child, someone burned a cross on our front lawn. That moment marked me. It made it clear that our stories — our truths — were seen as threats.

Years later, as a mother, I knew I didn’t want to leave it up to the school system to teach my boys who they are. I wanted them to know their true history and to see themselves reflected in it.

That’s why I created Tellers Untold — a space where Black voices, legacies, and everyday brilliance are centered and celebrated. Through documentaries, blog content, educational tools, and our Kid Professors series, we bring untold stories to life in ways that spark learning and inspire pride.

Whether you're a parent, educator, student, or simply curious, welcome. I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s explore the stories that shape us, together.

Our mission is to uplift untold stories of black history and culture through powerful, accessible storytelling that educates, inspires, and builds community.

Our vision is to build a vibrant community that celebrates, educates, and inspires the Black experience through shared stories, culture, and history.

“Tellers Untold is a powerful and necessary series that brings long-overdue stories to light. A must-watch for anyone seeking truth and deeper understanding.”
